Jaileen Bedoya
Education:
B.A. in Sociology, University of Connecticut
M.S.W. Candidate, University of Connecticut
Interests:
As a Latina woman, I value the importance of culture and identity in the healing process. Although I am not fluent in Spanish, I am deeply committed to working with the Latinx community and creating a welcoming, culturally affirming space for clients from all backgrounds. I am especially interested in supporting adolescents and college students as they navigate concerns such as anxiety, family dynamics, identity development, and relationships. I am also passionate about promoting body image acceptance and body positivity, and I enjoy helping clients foster self-compassion and develop a healthier relationship with their bodies. Outside of work, I enjoy traveling, spending time with my puppy, coloring, and playing sports.
Therapeutic Approach:
My approach is collaborative, empathetic, and student-centered. I draw from evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and strengths-based interventions, while also integrating relational and culturally responsive perspectives. I believe in meeting clients where they are and empowering them to build resilience, insight, and effective coping strategies.
